Summer school - Jurfem


First JurFem Summer School for female law students is the initiative of the Ukrainian Women-Lawyers Association “JurFem”, which was firstly implemented in Ukraine from 06 to 09 August 2018 in Kyiv city

The Summer School focused on developing of soft skills in female law students. Social skills are ability to persuade, negotiate, find an “approach” to people, work in a team, leadership, creativity, etc what is a key to successful work in the legal field

In addition, we examined the legal aspects of protection against gender discrimination, gender-based violence and sexual harassment. Also, during these three days the school participants were able to communicate with well-known female lawyers, advocates, judges and scholars during master classes and meetings that were held between the training sessions. In this way, we encouraged female law students actively collaborate with their colleagues and more engage active youth in discussing issues related to gender equality

To participate in the JurFem Summer School were invited female law students from second to fourth year from all regions of Ukraine.The results of the selection were based on taking into account the level of motivation, regional representation and readiness for further cooperation with JurFem, we invited to participate in the JurFem Summer School of 30 participants

The JurFem Summer School initiative was implemented with the support of the project “Affordable and Qualitative Legal Aid in Ukraine” implemented by the Canadian Bureau for International Education in partnership with the Legal Aid Coordination Center and funded by the Government of Canada
